External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will be on a two-day visit from January 14 to Iran. He will discuss with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian on key issues including the unfolding security situation in the Red Sea.
Jaishankar’s visit to Tehran comes against the backdrop of growing global concerns over Houthi militants targeting merchant vessels in the Red Sea amid the Israel-Hamas conflict.
The US and the UK have launched air strikes against Houthi positions in Yemen.
Dr S Jaishankar with his US counterpart Antony Bliken had held discussion on maritime security challenges, especially the Red Sea region on January 12th.
